Today is a travel day to Oak Ridge, TN where we will overnight.
After breakfast (included) we will tour the historic Brushy Mountain Prison
whose most notable inmate was James Earl Ray (MLK assassin)
We will enjoy lunch at the Warden's Table (included). Next stop is the
Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge where the worlds first
atomic weapons were produced. We will then travel to Princeton, WV
our home for the next 3-nites.
After breakfast (included) we will visit the New River Gorge Bridge
the longest steel span bridge in the western hemisphere. Next stop
is Tamarack Marketplace which showcases Appalachian Culture and Crafts.
Last stop of the day is Beckley Exhibition Coalmine.
Take a ride in a coal car and tour an underground coal mine.
After breakfast (included) Today we visit the John Henry Monument
whose legend states this 7 ft man could do the work of 30 railroad men.
Next stop is the Greenbriar Resort - Beneath the resort we will tour
a bomb shelter built in the 1950's meant to house all 535 members of
congress in the event of a nuclear attack on the US.
After breakfast (included) we travel to our last stay of this trip in
Chattanooga, TN. On the way we will stop at Crockett's Tavern Museum
where Davey Crocketts parents worked and lived when he was a child.
A light dinner and drinks are provided this evening at the hotel (included)
After breakfast (included) we make our way home with memories of
our Appalachian Adventure.
